Most Common Questions
Can you tether and hotspot with Unlimited Plans?
Yes! Each True Unlimited 5G plan includes a dedicated hotspot allowance matching your plan length (e.g. 15GB for the 15-day plan, 30GB for the 30-day plan)."
Are there any additional charges or hidden fees associated with Journey Japan eSIM?
None at all! Enjoy your journey in Japan without worrying about hidden charges.
How long does my Journey Japan eSIM plan last?
All Journey Japan eSIM plans are valid for up to a maximum of 30 days. Once installed and activated the usage period will begin.
What is the process for returning the eSIM after my trip to Japan?
You don’t have to do anything! Once you use up your data allowance or the duration period expires, your data connection will automatically stop.
How can I check if my device supports eSIM?
Newer devices should support eSIM if there are no restrictions set. However, eSIM compatibility depends on your exact device model, regional version, and carrier. Check your device settings for an option such as ‘Add eSIM,’ ‘Add Cellular Plan,’ or ‘Add Mobile Plan.’ You can also dial *#06# and check whether an EID number appears. We recommend confirming your exact device model on our eSIM compatibility list before purchasing.
Do I need to unlock my phone to use the Journey Japan eSIM?
Yes! An unlocked (SIM-free) phone with eSIM compatibility is required. To check if your phone is unlocked, go to Settings > General > About (iPhone) or Settings > About Phone (Android) and look for "SIM Lock" or "Carrier Lock" status — or simply contact your carrier and ask them to confirm. If your phone is locked, you'll need to contact your carrier to request an unlock before installing the eSIM. Also be sure to review our eSIM compatibility list to confirm your device model supports eSIM.
